Types Of CB Antennas

Vehicles and radio antennas are just like a match made in heaven, nothing can work alone without each other, especially the vehicles of commercial uses like truck lifters, heavy job tractors, field giant vehicles etc. The core purpose of these antennas and radios is to build the communication gap of the field and the main operating room. Since the main field area and the operational rooms are not at far off distances, radios and antennas that serve short range communication i.e. CB antennas and radios serve this particular purpose the best.

CB radios and antennas are particularly used for communication up till the distances as much as of 10 meters. These radios are particularly designed to cater the need of the heavy purpose vehicles.  These devices are well managed, highly intricate and made up of well woven programmed systems.

Currently many tech companies are offering all kinds of CB radios and antennas services nut only a few have managed to qualify as customer’s number one choice, among these tech companies, Stryker radio has a lead.

CB antennas are of multiple types serving multiple purposes according to the need of the vehicle and the field work. Choosing the right type of antenna for the needed purpose could be a tricky job but this article would serve the core purpose of explaining the present types of CB antennas that would help you to gain knowledge of the antennas and their types.

Following are the 6 antenna types:

1-Fibreglass antenna:

With approximate miles coverage of 2 to 7 miles, fiberglass comes with two variations in the antenna’s length i.e. 2’ till 7’. The coil of this antenna is wrapped at the top side. The best thing about this antenna is its portability, it can literally fix anywhere and due to its flexibility it can adjust different environmental conditions. It can be adjusted to almost any part of the vehicle.

2-Magnet mount antennas:

The range is from 3 to 7 miles and just as the name depicts, these antennas have a magnet or plastic like base to mount the antenna on. The antenna comes along the radio and transmitting antenna wire. The striking feature of these antennas is the fact that they can be installed anywhere in the vehicle without drilling holes or fixing permanently. The higher this antenna is placed the better performance it provides.

3-102’’ Whip Antennas:

These CB antennas have a range of 10 miles or even more. They are called to be the exemplary type of CB antennas, they are without any antenna wire, flexible and highly durable. These are very cost efficient also.

4-Centre Loaded Antennas:

Designed especially for heavy duty and semi-heavy loader vehicles, Centre loaded CB antennas come with a long shaft and a transmitting loader in the center, this shaft can range in heights between 45’’ and 60’’. They prove the miles range of 7 to 8 miles. This type provides the finest quality performance among all the other antennas of its kind.

5-No Ground Plane Antennas:

This antenna is a perfect match for vehicles with lots of fiberglass or no chassis. This just makes use of the antenna without any ground plane and work efficiently. This antenna makes use of a chassis made up of metal of its own and does the antenna purpose. It serves best the boats and other vehicles of the same kind.
